Controls Engineer needed for a client in the Martinsville VA area. Client is a manufacturer of automated machinery for the lumber industry. Must be hands on with PLCs and posess other electromechanical skills. Salary will be based on experience.

Experience in industrial automation.

• A sawmill environment experience preferred.

• Experience in plc development, support and testing services.

• Experience configuring control systems in a manufacturing environment with start-up projects experience within sawmills. (Lumber industry).

• Hands-on plc programming installation/service engineering/troubleshoot hardware and peripheral devices and hands-on troubleshooting machine control systems, machine start- up and de-bugging.

• Working knowledge of VFD and servo motor control.

• Understanding of the use of automation in a sawmill plant process and basic unit operations to assist with the design of process control strategies.

• Understanding basic pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.

• Wiring and validation of electricals drawing for assembler machine

• Daily servicing and maintenance of production equipment

• Service call and remote support client troubleshooting

• Troubleshooting Cognex and Omron vision systems and making minor adjustments in the software.

• Troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC and HMI using programming software

• Ensure equipment functions as designed and complies with quality systems to all required standards including customer specific requirements

• Startup machine in client factory

• Additional tasks as required
