Position Summary The Buyer & Planner is responsible for master scheduling and buying of service parts and supply planning of assigned products purchased from 3rd party sources and ensuring products conform to STERIS'engineering documents, policies, procedures, work instructions, and ISO/GMP requirements. You will schedule and manage master/detail schedule and resulting purchase orders to meet Customer delivery requirements and when necessary, expedite product to maintain the ultimate level of customer service. Duties Inputs and manages planning data/work orders in the material plan/system that best meets the demand projection, inventory requirements and Customer requirements for assigned products to meet overall objectives. Provides input into the Service Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. Manages the cross functional communication necessary to maintain monthly demand and supply plans that support customer and inventory requirements. Releases purchase orders to suppliers in order to maintain material flow. Monitors open purchase orders, follows up and expedites open items. Communicates to appropriate individuals any change in delivery, price or specifications. Secure quotes from qualified suppliers or respective STERIS manufacturing plant of assigned materials to obtain most favorable prices and services consistent with quality requirements. Coordinates and assists, with the respective commodity manager, in maintaining a supply base that adheres to STERIS policies and procedures. Monitors inventory levels and takes necessary action to adjust according to inventory requirements. Duties - cont'd Investigates and recommends new sources of supply that will provide maximum value to the company and to the Customer. Maintain appropriate purchasing files as required. Negotiate and facilitate the return of rejected and obsolete material. Resolves material non-conformance and invoice issues with suppliers. Participate in lean supply chain initiatives and identify improvement opportunities. Reconcile accounts payable discrepancies. Becomes proficient in the use of the STERIS forecast tool (Smoothie) to update forecast and/or provide data to suppliers or internal STERIS Customer on assigned responsibilities. #LI-BB1 Required Experience Bachelors degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, or related field. Three (3) years ofexperience in purchasing, planning, and/or production/inventory control rolls. OR High School Diploma plus thirteen (13) years ofexperience in purchasing, planning, and/or production/inventory control rolls. Three (3) years of experience utilizing MRP principles and techniques. Preferred Experience MBA or advanced degree. Certification in related field (APICS) or (CPIM) or CPM is strongly desired. Skills Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Strong organizational, negotiation and planning skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, problems solving, business acumen, and time management skills. Work Schedule This is a hybrid position based in Mentor, OH. The schedule is 3 days/week in the office, 2 days/week remote.
