Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Public Works Division, Facilities Engineering (FE) Department of USCG Base Miami Beach, FL Responsibilities The incumbent will serve as a maintenance mechanic and perform preventative and corrective maintenance (PM/CM) on various utility systems and equipment. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Perform repairs accomplished by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems such as dirty traps, sections of broken pipe, and leaky drains. Receives work orders, oral instructions, and sketches that provide specific information on the work request, for example, where the work is to be done, the kind of repair to be made, and the materials that will be needed. Applies standard measurements, specifications, and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing items such as frame structures, decking, partitions, shelving, doors, forms, siding, and scaffolds. Plans, measure, and lay out materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. The position requires a valid state driver's license. Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position. Receipt of the bonus will require a 12 month service agreement.
