Sr. Communications Specialist
The University of Miami/UHealth department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Communications Specialist to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.
Core Summary
The Sr. Communications Specialist provides consultative and administrative communications services and programs and establishes and maintains effective relationships with the media. This position establishes relationships with all levels of employees within the organization.
Core Responsibilities
Develops new methods of communication in order to maintain and improve communications with employees.
Writes and edits communications for external audiences including news releases, fact sheets, brochures and collateral, external newsletters, communications plans, and website content.
Provides information to media and serves as official spokesperson for department.
Develops message and talking points on emerging and current issues.
Assists with the planning and production of internal publications, videos, and slideshows.
Leads project teams to establish goals and execute communications efforts.
Coordinates with internal and external communication experts.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
The Sr. Communications Specialist will provide consultative and administrative communications services related to the Florida Stroke Registry and related projects such as the Florida Coverdell Program.
Assist in planning, developing, and implementing internal and external communications projects and initiatives for our ongoing projects, the Florida Stroke Registry, CDC Coverdell, new NIH and AHA funded studies.
Contribute to communications projects with content and design that is FSR-centric.
Communicate scientific concepts
Serve as a liaison for audio visual projects
Provide insight on the communication modalities has contributed to strategic planning and budgeting.
Liaise with clinicians, researchers, and government professionals, as well as the community
identify opportunities to promote a favorable perception of the University to internal and external audiences
Develop and support branded and educational initiatives that are not only used as collateral throughout the entire state, but also locally to uplift the Florida Stroke Registry and UM Neurology brand
Collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with external partners, such as agencies, producers, designers, writers, printers, and collaborators has contributed to new FSR marketing, social media, and public service announcement initiatives
Work with a wide range of media using graphic design software to convert video to digital format and produce video clips to be used in different publications or presentations.
The candidate will also: manage the maintenance of informational databases; compile and visualize data from Excel and the development of reports to create and analyze surveys through REDCap, survey monkey, etc.; website update; manage audio/visual of large virtual meetings through zoom or other virtual meeting applications

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
