Discover Impactful Work:

Supervises a small team of technical support staff within a given information technology discipline such as Desktop Services, Network Communications, etc. Delivers technology solutions in a collaborative cross-functional environment. Responsible for supervisory duties necessary to develop staff and deploy technical solutions meeting the needs of the business.

A day in the Life:

Our PPD® Laboratory Services team has a direct impact on improving patient health through the expertise of scientists, industry thought-leaders and therapeutic experts. The Sr Manager IT oversees the implementation of the company’s technology plan for assigned business functions or locations ensuring IT requirements are effectively and efficiently met. Provides senior-level direction to cross-functional teams to meet IT goals and objectives.

  • Liaises with business functions and/or locations to ensure IT priorities are in step with the business priorities and that commitments are being delivered on time and within budget.

  • Leads IT teams, operational management and cross-functional teams to ensure a high standard of service and adherence to internal controls and procedures.

  • Advises and consults with business functions and/or locations on information technology requests, services and capabilities.

  • Advises on the potential impact of current and future laws and regulations on the operation of the organization.

  • Coordinates IT participation in business development, sponsor or regulatory audits ensuring accurate and timely responses.

  • Manages assigned vendor relationships and contracts to ensure contractual obligations and business requirements are met at the best available price and quality expectation.

  • Mentors and helps line managers to develop staff.

  • Makes recommendations to management regarding departmental expense and capital budgets

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

Experience

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 12+ years’ including 12 years' experience with IT Operations or Systems Development, 5 years' project management or similar leadership experience, and 3 years' experience in an IT business liaison role) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.

Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
