FTE: 0.900000 Shift: Shift 3 Three 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM, with rotating weekends and holidays. The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), recipient of the Beacon Award for Excellence, at Froedtert is a high-energy, 12-bed critical care unit. 7NT MICU has a unique culture that fosters engagement, is committed to supporting and empowering nursing practice, and creates valuable and positive change within the unit and as an organization. The majority of MICU patients are severely ill and high acuity, requiring frequent nursing assessment and intervention. Patient populations commonly served include: septic shock, respiratory disease requiring mechanical ventilation, GI bleeding, multisystem organ failure, pulmonary hypertension, DKA/HHNK, hypertensive emergencies/crises, acute drug overdoses-intentional/non-intentional, and medication desensitization. With specialty therapies that may include: Induced hypothermia, CRRT/CVVH, IL-2 infusions, rapid infusion for emergent fluid or blood replacement, and flolan/remodulin infusions. Job Summary: The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. The Staff RN-Inpatient job description has incorporated essential functions which are adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010). EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
