Summary The Mac Operator is responsible for ensuring proper formatting, appearance, and layout of text/images are setup correctly for print. Prepress technicians take printed or electronic files to scan or import into specialized software while making color, text, and digital image corrections as needed. The Prepress Technician is responsible for checking over each job to ensure the print job is set up correctly for the printing process. The duties also include making proofs & plates and equipment maintenance. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Confirm that the page layout document size, margins, bleeds, marks, and page information all match the client specifications. Assessing and setting up files provided by customers for digital or litho output Perform color matching using Photoshop Creating page layouts using Preps or InDesign software Responsible for digital PDF and inkjet proofing Ability to make litho plates and send CIP3 data to the press Confirm all document information matches the print ticket and client expectations Ensuring plates are made for printing jobs with the correct curve/profile for each different press and substrate Responsible for confirming each job is set up correctly for printing Make inkjet proofs, handle the plate processor and inkjet proofer maintenance Work with Preflight, Prepress and Production manages to resolve any printing questions or issues Fosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment Follows all safety and workplace policies Education/Certification Associate or trade school degree in graphic arts and or printing and prepress technology Experience 3 years mac operating/prepress experience minimum Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting may be required throughout the workday
