Fairview Health Services Manager Mental Health & Addiction Workforce Development in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

The Manager of Mental Health Workforce Development is responsible for Masters mental health and addiction professional workforce development. This role serves as the primary contact and Liaison between universities and the M Health Fairview Mental Health and Addiction Service Line for all current and future masters mental health professional placements. In partnership with Service Line leadership, the manager strategically identifies, coordinates, oversees learner placement opportunities across the service line that drive excellence in patient care while ensuring achievement of academic, licensure, and organizational goals. As such, this role provides operational and matrix managed clinical leadership to Masters prepared trainees across the Mental Health and Addiction Service Line. This role seeks to increase the quality and quantity of clinical supervisors through recognition and aligned incentives. Additionally, this role ensures that learners and clinical supervisors meet organizational and professional practice expectations, regulations, and are prepared to achieve the quadruple aim.This role will ensure the successful coordination and execution of M Health Fairview’s masters mental health professional training program. The Manager will serve as the administrator of this program to ensure that trainees become successful members of the profession by creating structures and avenues that support development of their clinical skills, ethical principles, and professional identity and proficiency.

Responsibilities

Leads partnership with managers of MHASL (Mental Health and Addiction Service Line) to ensure achievement of organizational vision, mission and goals for learning and training of new trainees.

  • Supports the shared leadership/governance structure to ensure alignment with the professional practice model.

  • Fosters an environment of professional collaboration, critical thinking, innovation, and research to enhance the achievement of organizational objectives.

  • Collaborates with service line leaders, clinical supervisors, and trainees to ensure education, safety, and quality outcomes across the care continuum.

  • Collaborates with leadership, advanced practice clinicians and subject matter experts to develop, implement and evaluate professional clinical, orientation and development programs.

Creates an environment that advances and utilizes evidence-based practice and research. Incorporates new research findings and technological advances in educational design and content that promote quality patient care and staff development along the continuum.

  • Supports an environment of learning and inquiry for healthcare students

  • Models the behaviors associated with a healthy work environment.

  • Assists and supports the ancillary functions in training clinicians in the most efficient and effective manner

  • Engages teams in review of professional literature and utilizing their clinical observations and encounters to become more competent providers

  • Ensure that trainees initially receive close clinical supervision and intensive instruction, and over time, gain greater autonomy

  • Foster trainees’ growth in the following areas: cultural sensitivity, professionalism, reflective practice/self-assessment, scientific method, relationships, individual/cultural diversity, ethical/legal standards, interdisciplinary systems, psychological interventions, and supervision

The Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that trainees follow core competencies of their profession including, but not limited to:

Represents M Health Fairview and training needs in service line, system, at community planning activities as appropriate, with special attention to academic partnerships.

  • Stayscurrent on the latest thinking in training methods for clinicians including use of simulation and other non-classroom-based learning.

  • Acts as a role model; serves as development resource and consultant for clinical educators throughout the system.

  • Ensures regulatory requirements are met for all regulatory mandated education.

  • Consults with service line clinical educators to develop and roll out best practice training programs including orientation and competency development programs.

Direct Care: 20-30% of this role is in direct psychotherapy practice.

  • Conducts diagnostic evaluation and confers diagnosis as appropriate.

  • Develops an individualized treatment plan of care.

  • Documents assessment/treatment planning in medical record.

  • Collaborates with patient, family, and other colleagues to develop a treatment plan of care.

  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs.

  • Maintains required, appropriate, and timely communication and correspondence with treatment authorization and payer sources in a manner which promotes efficient and effective delivery of clinical services.

Provides clinical oversight for programming and clinical staff

  • Advances clinical best practice standards for all clinical programs and services

  • Provides clinical supervision for all program staff.

  • Insures appropriate clinical training and clinical supervision/oversight for interns and unlicensed providers.

  • Provides and supports clinical and operational management of specialty services.

  • Ensures effective provision of clinical triage and crisis management protocols as indicated.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum Education

Master’s Degree

Behavioral health related area including Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family,

Minimum License/Certification/Registration

Licensed Independent Mental Health Professional

LICSW and LADC in the state of MN

Minimum Experience

Five Years post Licensed Mental Health Professional licensure

Two years experience in administrative, clinical or healthcare management and organizational development or equivalent experience

Preferred Experience

Seven or more years post licensure experience

At least five years experience in clinical supervision

At least seven to ten years of experience in health care management and organizational development

Vaccination Update

Current employees must have completed both vaccination schedules on or before October 31, 2021.Beginning August 9, 2021, any new hires who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to receive their first dose prior to their start date and their second dose (if receiving Moderna or Pfizer vaccines) within 4 weeks of their start date.
