Job Summary

The Private Equity Fund Operations Senior Analyst is a multi-discipline role which encompasses investment and accounting knowledge in support of Thrivent’s Private Equity portfolio. The Private Equity Fund Operations Senior Analyst displays an understanding of private equity fund operations and is an experienced contributor to daily private equity fund operations (accounting, reporting, valuations, cash monitoring). The position is responsible for providing a wide range of portfolio and security-level investment reporting, analysis, valuation, and accounting as part of the Private Equity operational support team. This role engages in analysis for surplus management, statutory financial reporting, and assists with portfolio management analytical requests.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintains internal private equity fund operations for Thrivent’s Private Equity Portfolios (functions include accounting, valuations, management reporting, performance, ownership structure analysis, distributions, cash monitoring).

  • Assists with annual GAAP audits and tax preparation.

  • Engages in bringing industry best practices and internal requirements to vendor and professional service relationships that handle the following functions - Fund Administration, External Audits, Tax Management, Portfolio Monitoring, Custodial Banking and Accounting Software. Engages frequently with internal and external legal counsel regarding investment and fund legal issues.

  • Provides analysis to internal senior stakeholders for investment performance, surplus management, statutory financial reporting, and assists with Portfolio Manager and legal requested analysis. Consultation, analysis and inform on private equity issues with the Private Equity Fund Operations Consultant & Manager.

  • Assists with strategic initiatives supporting Thrivent’s Private Equity portfolio.

  • Provides analysis on external sub-advised private equity managers and reports financial and surplus impact to senior investment division leadership.

The Private Equity Fund Operations Senior Analyst will interact frequently with the Private Equity Fund Operations Manager and peers within the operations team, along with the Private Equity Investment Team. The position also interacts with senior level contributors at professional service firms. This position provides analytics on all private fund operations. The Senior Analyst provides analysis and guidance to senior stakeholders to influence private equity operational processes.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related discipline.

  • 3-5 years finance and accounting experience.

  • Experience with private equity audits and private equity financial reporting processes.

  • Experience working with leading private equity systems or fund administration/custody functions.

  • Ability and eagerness to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • High level of organization and attention to detail.

  • Passion for and understanding of new technology and trends.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills among all organizational levels.

Preferred:

  • Attainment of MBA, CFA or CPA designation.

  • 2 years private equity fund experience.

  • Proven success in executing on end-to-end private equity processes.

  • Ability to prioritize work against enterprise, division, and product strategies; can effectively communicate rationale and impact for prioritization choices.

  • Expert in defining high-quality business requirements.

  • Strong leadership skills to coordinate work and motivate internal & external stakeholders.

  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite.

Additional Information

  • This position requires you to work on-site in Minneapolis, MN a minimum of two days a week.
