Job Summary: The Referral Coordinator plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and referring medical practices. This position is responsible for responding to referral requests, scheduling and preregistration of patients, insurance and orders verification, data entry, and other administrative tasks. The Referral Coordinator serves as a representative facilitating access to healthcare services for patients and families. Responsibilities:

  1. Provides Outstanding Customer Service
  • Demonstrates a customer service philosophy in all communications
  • Interacts courteously and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Responds to family/patient concerns and complaints
  • Communicates in a culturally competent manner
  • Gathers information from families with sensitivity
  1. Professionalism
  • Demonstrates appropriate dress for the role
  • Models accountability for learning and adapts to changes in healthcare
  • Demonstrates knowledge of clinic/provider information
  • Adheres to code of ethics and patient bill of rights
  • Safeguards patients' right to privacy and confidentiality
  1. Patient Scheduling (75%)
  • Determines/negotiates appropriate date and time availability for appointments
  • Obtains and enters accurate patient information for scheduling
  • Ensures accurate patient demographic and insurance information
  • Monitors scheduling to ensure efficient resource utilization
  • Provides accurate information to parents regarding scheduling
  1. Assist with Quality Improvement Initiatives (10%)
  • Participates in data collection and/or data entry
  • Assists with software program and client information maintenance
  • Participates in quality improvement projects
  • Completes monthly self-audit as required
  • Assists with special projects as requested
