Fairview Health Services Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical ICU in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU - Medicine Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.

As a Registered Nurse in our Medical ICU, we care for patients with many different diagnoses including: Covid, multi system organ failure, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, influenza, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, pre/post bone marrow transplant, pre organ transplant (kidney/liver/lung), overdoses, and respiratory/cardiac arrest. Therapies we utilize include hypothermia, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), paralytics, and proning.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift and will also work a rotation for every 3rd weekend.

The starting base rate of pay for the position is $39.70. Candidates with experience or higher degree may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.

  • $4.00 extra per hour night shift differential

About the Medical ICU at UMMC East Bank:

  • 19 bed critical care unit.

  • We have complex, high-acuity patients who require continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intense medication management, ongoing critical thinking, and excellent communication with team members and families.

  • This is a faced-paced and highly technical medical environment.

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;

  • Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;

  • Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;

  • Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;

  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;

  • Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;

  • Demonstrating the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes;

  • Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and

  • Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • MN RN Licensure

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.

  • Will consider a new grad with ICU experience as a (SNI or capstone)

  • Certification in related specialty is highly desired.

  • A minimum of one year current medical surgical RN experience in a Hospital setting is preferred.

  • One year adult critical care experience is preferred.

  • Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty is highly preferred.
