Reporting to the HR Director, BD Canada, the Human Resources Business Partner provides HR partner support to the Functional Leadership Teams within BD in Canada,

The HR Business Partner is responsible to partner with the functional leadership teams to create a culture of high performance, and engagement. The HR Business Partner will have key input into the design, development, integration of HR processes, practices, programs and initiatives that contribute to the success of the BD Canada organization within is scope of responsibilities.

This role provides coaching and guidance in the areas of support in talent management and succession planning, organizational development, learning and development, team development and HR service delivery.

Organizational Effectiveness & Development

  • Aligned with region, functional, and HR Strategy and KDGs, provides HR business partnering support for Leadership, works with the management team and people leaders to identify and resolve business needs, develop and implement appropriate organizational plans, and build key capabilities required to deliver business outcomes.

  • Leads and supports client groups with workforce planning, organization design, associate engagement, organizational announcements.

  • Acts as the trusted advisor of client leaders to support them in carrying out their objectives.

  • Develops & conducts team development/team building strategies both proactively and when necessary to improve team performance.

  • Helps to improve organizational effectiveness through use of organization design principles and simplifying work processes

  • Demonstrates ability to influence business partners in order to align HR strategy and key processes (succession planning, performance management, talent acquisition, pay equity.)

  • Has the organizational savvy and influencing skills to get things done through shared services and centers of expertise.

  • Builds talent and advance BD culture. In particular, focus on being an effective ‘business’ partner by understanding business challenges and pro-actively taking steps to implement initiatives.

Talent Management and Acquisition

  • Be the talent advisor, facilitator and champion to ensure strong succession pipelines for critical roles.

  • Partners across BD and with Talent Management and Talent Acquisition teams to align top talent to highest priorities while ensuring inclusion and diversity outcomes.

  • Participates in/facilitates the Performance Management process.

  • Facilitate effective performance management practices by helping to define success, establish measurements, provide feedback, and reward performance. Provide guidance and advice to managers on performance issues and issue resolution.

  • In partnership with the TA COE and RPO Team, ensures the implementation of the strategy and support of recruitment strategies and their implementation; including ensuring that staffing needs are met to hire people who meet the needs of the organization and the BD Way and create talent pools.

  • Support corporate associate talent engagement programs based on survey feedback (Voice of Associates).

Compensation

  • Apply total reward concepts to attract, motivate, and retain key employees. Providing associates and business leaders with appropriate guidance on compensation and benefits programs and policies. Work in conjunction with the Total Rewards Team to coordinate the annual compensation process

  • Facilitates appropriate compensation reviews

  • Works with leadership team members during annual Compensation Planning time to ensure alignment of rewards to performance, and that rewards are used as organizational levers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Business Administration, Industrial Relations, HR, preferred (specialization in organizational development/Talent management an asset)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR

  • Member of the Order of Human Resources Advisors (CRHA) (Preferred);

  • Advanced oral and written French and English is preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

  • Workday or other HRIS system experience.

  • Business acumen: have an understanding of internal and external issues and translate them into HR strategies.

  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential situations

  • Demonstrate strong HR process and business partnering experience.

  • Proven communication skills.

  • Strong influencing skills across multiple levels, functions and cultures with a sense of urgency and ability to navigate the organizational dynamics.

  • Able to challenge the “status quo”, drive innovation and strong level of accountability.

  • This is a Hybrid role that requires you to be at your assigned worksite 3 days out of the week and up to 2 days from home. Local policies may apply. BD may change your work arrangement based on business needs.
