Job Opportunity

Superintendent is responsible for driving improvements in the overall manufacturing process with primary focus on Safety, Quality, and efficient Productivity. As part of the division manufacturing Team, Superintendent will report to the Plant Manager for supporting and executing set goals for optimal performance and growth. The Superintendent will also be engaged in the Plants Steering Team activities in alignment with the Daily Operating System using the 4 Disciplines of Execution.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Superintendent manages the work of 3 supervisors and approximately 40 production employees in a 24/5 Production Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; preparing plant cross training plan, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Lead, create, implement, and maintain Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement initiatives in the facility.

  • Observes Safety and Security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions.

  • Confers with management personnel to establish Safety, Quality and Production control standards, cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of orders.

  • Coordinates production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.

  • Coordinates the activities and priorities of the Maintenance, Production Planning, and Scheduling Departments.

  • Coordinates production activities with purchasing, planning, production, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.

  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.

  • Reviews, corrects, compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

  • Create a positive work environment, fostering teamwork and cooperation.

  • Learn, understand, and take on Environmental tasks.

  • Oversees Supervision for a 3 shift operation

  • Revises production schedules and priorities.

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.

  • Makes timely decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and communicates changes effectively.

  • Includes appropriate people in decision-making process and supports and explains reasoning for decisions.

  • Manages competing demands and changes approach or method to best fit the situation.

  • Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.

  • Responds promptly to customer needs, audits inventory, orders supply and completes administrative tasks correctly and on time.

  • Writes and speaks clearly and informatively.

  • Able to read and interpret written information and present numerical data effectively.

Critical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Flexographic Printing

  • 3-5 years experience in a Supervisory role

  • Excellent Time Management and organization skills

  • Ability to lead team-oriented work groups

  • Green Belt certified preferred

  • Strong computer skills on a MAC computer
