The Patient Care Tech (PCT) role, under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, functions to perform a variety of
responsibilities including rhythm identification, clerical and reception support and direct patient care on an assigned nursing
unit. This position is integral in fostering a customer-focused, service oriented team approach which incorporates the values of
MMC in a confidential environment. This role will champion and model excellent customer service behaviors while on duty
utilizing the AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, Thank you) model. The PCT will be accountable for compliance
with all continuous readiness and quality standards as assigned. Additionally, under the supervision of the license nurse, this
role involves the provision of basic direct nursing care including but not limited to hygiene, activities of daily living and comfort
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
Successful completion of MMC’s ECG course or another equivalent hospital ECG approved course prior to hire is required.
Candidates with prior monitoring experience must successfully complete MMC’s ECG challenge exam.
Completion of Medical Terminology course required within 1 year of hire or proven experience of 6 months or longer as a Ward Clerk or one of the following equivalent positions (Acute Care Nursing Assistant (ACNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Monitor Tech (MT) in an acute care hospitals working in a capacity where used of Medical Terminology is an established practice is required OR equivalent education/experience.
Prior hospital clerical or cardiac monitoring experience.
Six (6) months or greater of patient care experience.
License and Certifications:
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is preferred.
Prior hospital clerical or cardiac monitoring experience is preferred.
Six (6) months or greater of recent patient care experience is preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to see and recognize monitor patters and cardiac disrhythmias.
Ability to type a minimum of 25 wpm.
Basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic.
Knowledge of basic clerical duties.
Basic computer literacy.
Ability to write, read, hear, and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of unit specific age criteria for patient population.
Must be able to travel in accordance with any requirements of your job.
