JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Mont Alto is searching for a Maintenance Worker (General) B to join their team. Duties include: ​

  • Operate tractors and power mowers; cut grass and weeds; trim lawns

  • Plant and transplant, prune, spray, cultivate trees, grass, shrubbery, flowerbeds, etc.; fertilize and seed lawns as required

  • Rake and remove leaves, paper and other debris from lawns, parking lots and roadways

  • Remove snow and ice as directed; spread cinders, sawdust and chemical ice and snow removers on walks and roads; operate large and small snow plows and blowers

  • Perform routine maintenance on trucks, tractors and other gasoline driven equipment, including minor adjustment, lubrication, oil changing, etc.; sharpen lawn mower blades

  • Assist Maintenance Mechanic and Heating and Ventilation Mechanic in general mechanical and building maintenance as required

  • Load and unload trucks; check shipments received against delivery slips for accuracy; place shipment in designated storage areas

  • Assist in setting up rooms for various functions as directed

  • Spray trees, shrubbery and lawn with general and restricted pesticides and herbicides as needed

  • Clean catch basins, drainage ditches, piping, manholes, etc.; remove debris and make minor repairs

  • Erect athletic equipment such as nets, backstops, goal posts, scoreboards, etc.

  • Maintain campus compost pile

Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Days Off: Saturday and Sunday

Job Requirements: Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. Must possess Pennsylvania Certified Applicator License Category 6, 7, or 23 . 6 to 9 months of effective experience.

NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS. NOTE: EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO MEDICAL CLEARANCE.
