Oracle Software Developer 3 in Montgomery, Alabama

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will help build our next generation Change management and Postmortem management tooling in Java, integrating with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tooling and myriad other related systems. You will also focus on identifying missing or broken mechanisms in Oracle's Change Management systems and processes and drive improvements across OCI. Additionally, you will mentor your team members with less experience in Java through collaborative coding, code reviews, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of, and eventual maintenance and support for, our next-generation Change management and Postmortem management tooling in Java.

  • Contribute to the development of Java coding standards / guidelines.

  • Ensuring the application of coding guidelines, and quality code, through mentorship, code reviews, and collaborative coding.

  • Drive adoption of change and DevOps best practices, including continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD).

  • Collaborate with numerous partner teams regarding integration with various services.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with other team members to deliver large features, components, and systems.

  • Work independently with minimal direct oversight.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.

  • 6-8 years of professional experience coding; with at least the most recent 4 years being in Java.

  • Experience developing software in and for a distributed/cloud environment.

  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, namely Kubernetes, Docker, or other containerization / orchestration tools.

  • Experience working on an Agile/Lean team, preferably using Scrum and/or Kanban.

  • Experience developing and consuming web services/microservices, specifically REST-based services.

  • Experience with Javascript/Typescript, particularly with React and/or Node.js strongly preferred, as this is our primary problem domain.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
