National Institutes of Health Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic Leader in Montgomery County, Maryland

Summary Do you have experience with electronic precision measurement equipment, complex electronic sensing and control systems, or performing operational tests in a power plant setting? For more information, visit the DTR website Responsibilities As an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic Leader, you will: Provide knowledge and technical guidance in performing technical and mechanical tasks on electronic industrial controls at the NIH Central Utility Plant. Use comprehensive knowledge of shop and trade techniques to solve problems related to testing environment, interference from frequency generating equipment, location and density of circuitry, and other troubleshooting difficulties. Maintain advanced precision measurement equipment, instruments, and instrumentation systems such as in-situ oxygen analyzers, vibration monitors and combustion gas analyzers. Lead the performance of operational testing functions on existing systems and equipment. Develop changes to schematics, drawings, and maintenance procedures for use by lower-grade employees. Coordinate efforts with technical and professional personnel on changes to equipment and operating specifications. The selectee must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle license. If selected, you will be covered by a bargaining unit (union). This position requires weekend hours, night shifts, regular or rotational shifts, holiday hours. This position has on-call or call-back requirements. At the supervisor's discretion, this position may offer work schedule flexibilities: compressed schedules. If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination. You must be able to lift and move heavy items weighing 40 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation. The incumbent works in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required. Occasionally, climbing and work in high places may be required. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
