CAE USA INC Senior Software Test Specialist in Montreal (St. Laurent), Canada

About This Role

Position description:

The role of the senior test specialist within the magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) engineering group is to carry out the verification and validation (V&V) of our various software surrounding our MAD-XR sensor. The test specialist will work in certain phases of the software development cycle, namely the definition of requirements, system testing and documentation.

In collaboration with software developers, architects and other V&V specialists, the testing specialist will be involved in process improvement to obtain high quality software deliverables for our clients.

Tasks:

  • Development of test plans; writing tests procedures, executing tests, writing test reports, and creating/tracking software problem reports.

  • Participation in formal software qualification activities before deployment to customers.

  • Participation in various data acquisition exercises or system tests.

  • Review and update of documents such as user manuals, integration guides and test reports for different software.

  • Participation in the definition of requirements and in the traceability of requirements from definition to test reports.

Technical competencies

  • Bachelor degree in Computer/Software/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of testing and execution processes in an embedded software environment.

  • Experience with formal documentation such as requirement specifications, test plans, software/system test procedures and test reports

  • Experience working on Windows and Linux platforms.

  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and testing tools (Wireshark).

  • Experience in maintenance of a lab environment base on Ethernet networks.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of avionics, vehicle, sensors or communications systems

  • Knowledge of tools such as DOORS, Jira and Confluence.

Skills:

  • Good sense of organization and planning.

  • Good communication skills (oral and written).

  • Dynamic, results-oriented person with strong team spirit and a good sense of initiative.
