This Sourcing Engineer has responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering RD, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Provides technical engineering expertise and leadership to the Supply Management organization and suppliers, serving as the technical liaison between Medtronic design requirements and suppliers technical capability to assure that robust margins are achieved and maintained.
Responsibilities may include: facilitation of Lean-Sigma continuous improvement with suppliers, support and/or implementation of structural Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) process in new product development to achieve Design for Manufacturability and Reliability; identification of key technical capabilities of supply base; establishment of control plans and monitoring systems for supplier processes; identification and management of risk associated with low margins between supplier processes and design requirements; facilitation and reporting of progress of supplier corrective actions as assigned by relevant CAPA system; providing core team input of Design for Sourcing/Manufacturability into new designs; long term technology/supplier scanning as input into product/technology road maps.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience
Nice to Have
Experience working on plastic components
Experience working with VA/VE / Contract Manufacturing vendors Expertise in performing validations (e.g. IQ/OQ/PQs,
Gage RRs, TMVs, PFMEAs/DFMEAS, etc.)
Experience with component/product development lifecycle in the regulated medical device industry
Experience with leading DMAIC/ six sigma/ Lean projects to improve processes and operational efficiencies
Experience with the ISO13485 quality system requirements and application in the medical device environment
Experience with managing supplier change management system
Very effective communication skills required and strongly preferred
