We are looking to hire a R&D SCL Lux Formulator/ R&D SCL Lux Project Lead in our Skin Cleansing team based in Mumbai :

Purpose & Context:

Skin Care is an integral part of Unilever’s beauty business. There is increasing competitive pressure in South Asia, hence developing mixes/rolling out innovations that add value to consumers while benefitting our busine ss is very important.

R&D Skin Cleansing team (located at Mumbai) is responsible for global design, adaptation and rollouts of skin cleansing formats- primarily soap bars, bodywashes, hand-sanitizers and other novel formats.

The current job description being discussed is for an R&D associate.

She (He) would be responsible for specific products, processes, technology development & landing into relevant geographies. The job needs continuous interaction with cross functional teams including Brand Development, Consumer Marketing Insight, Consumer Technical Insights, Claims, Supply Chain, legal, regulatory & Supply Management teams as well as critical functions like SEAC, S&T teams, processing teams & clinical functions.

The job involves intense cross functional engagement & working in Project teams.

Deliverables

It is expected that the incumbent, during the course of his (her) work, will need to deliver the following:

Understanding the consumer habits & needs as required by the Project team while articulating the needs of business. Develop product solutions as needed by the business project briefs, articulated as an outcome of Project team work. Develop processes to manufacture product solution developed. Ensuring compliance to Internal Unilever protocols while developing product solutions with respect to commitment to safety, environment, claim support, specification management etc.

In addition to the above, it is expected that he(she) would contribute pro-actively in identifying & supporting Value improvement opportunities for Skin Cleansing portfolio of products.

• Preparation of technical transfer dockets

• Start developing depth in specific technical area (Formulation/Processing/Packaging) or (RM/Product/Pack/Process Specification generation and Development)

• Conduct technical trials and leads and manages a team of technicians/staff.

• Analysis & interpretation of data

• Represents own function in Cross-functional team in Project meetings.

• Operational interactions with Factories/Suppliers

• Develops working knowledge of related skill areas other than own function (e.g., manufacturing, buying, QA) and begins to manage the interfaces.

• Contributes to patents and papers as per the need of the work/research

• Can Independently Scale-up formulations (Planning & Executing) from bench to Pilot Scale & from Pilot to Main Plant levels and monitor the stability performance inline with the global stability protocol

• Is independently able to support the Technology Roll-out to the Sourcing Units

• Supports the Team in 5S activities mainly alternate vendor (or 3P) development process including RM Specification Evaluation, understanding the RM Synthesis pathway, Technical Auditing of the Supplier Manufacturing and QA Capabilities along with the QA team.
