Amazon Senior Financial Analyst - Accounting in Munich, Germany

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Participate and contribute to national and international accounting projects

• Work with various cross-functional stakeholders, particularly with tax, legal, finance teams to maintain efficient and compliant accounting and reporting processes, and effective controls

• Identify incomplete or inaccurate data, research the root cause and create/implement an escalation plan

• Collaborate and build relationships with system and business owners globally to ensure process excellence and the highest degree of controllership

• Actively contribute to improvement initiatives, standardization, optimizations of processes and controls, and implementation of best practices

• Document accounting conclusions with respect to accounting treatment of economic events

• Manage, participate and review month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing of financial books according to US-GAAP and local GAAPs

Basic Qualifications

  • University degree in Business or Accounting

  • US-GAAP or IFRS knowledge

  • First years of experience with an emphasis on accounting and financial reporting, preferably gained within a Big Four firm or a multinational matrix organization / environment

  • Fluent English skills

  • Relevant experience working with Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in creating process improvements with automation and analysis

  • Experience in building financial and operational reports that inform business decision-making

  • Demonstrating project management abilities and strong understanding of financial accounting systems

  • Relevant practice working with reporting and data mining tools, such as Power BI, Python, SQL, or Tableau
