Description
Amazon is seeking an experienced Senior Program Manager to lead the strategic planning and execution of our Diesel Yard Hostler fleet strategy for the Middle Mile operations. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive procurement, rental, safety (supporting), and forecasting strategies to optimize the performance and utilization of our diesel yard hostler fleet.
Expected travel 10% or less.
Key job responsibilities
Develop and oversee the procurement strategy for acquiring new diesel yard hostlers, including managing relationships with vendors and negotiating optimal terms.
Manage the rental strategy for supplementing the owned fleet, ensuring cost-effective and timely access to additional vehicles as needed.
Design and implement safety campaigns to promote safe operation and maintenance of the diesel yard hostler fleet, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Utilize data-driven forecasting models to predict future fleet requirements, maintenance needs, and budgetary considerations.
Manage budgets in areas of responsibility, tracking expenditures and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
Coordinate closely with supply chain, logistics, and maintenance teams to align fleet strategy with broader operational objectives.
Communicate progress, risks, and proposed changes to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights to support decision-making.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of program or project management experience
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of driving process improvements experience
Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
Transportation and/or fleet management experience of a mid to large size fleet
Commercial motor vehicles experience specifically with yard hostlers, tractors and/or trailers
In-yard operations management experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
