Amazon Senior Program Manager, Transportation Engineering Systems in Nashville, Tennessee

Description

Amazon is seeking a Senior Program Manager, Transportation Engineering Systems (TESS) to identify, develop and integrate innovative design solutions that translate our physical transportation initiatives into system designs to optimize North American (NA) transportation network.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage full lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs with considerable impact across multiple organizations

  • Development of the overall program strategy, tactically driving teams in and outside of your organization to deliver

  • Define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data and drive improvements that are quantified with metrics

  • Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions and reasons behind leadership decisions

  • Partner with teams across the business you support and beyond to source, allocate, and coordinate resources

  • Partner with customers, internal/external teams, and engineering teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority order

  • Oversee gaps between teams, processes and systems, helping teams reduce exposure to classic failure modes.

  • Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks)

  • Work with program managers, business leaders and executive team to communicate and impact critical business initiatives

  • Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to the milestones, and performance across all projects

  • Create, communicate, and manage budget for projects

A day in the life

This role will directly influence the decisions and strategy of TESS by gathering customer needs and insights, mining large and diverse data sets and use them for managing Transportation systems. Key customers for this role are Amazon network planners , under the roof process engineering teams. The key tech partners for this role include the software development teams which own route assignment, under the roof optimization and configuration automation.

Amazon transportation encompasses all of the operations that deliver shipments from our fulfillment centers and third party locations to customers worldwide. Transportation Engineering Systems (TESS) manages transportation network configuration by working with different internal stakeholders and systems, to deliver desired business outcomes. We work at the intersection of business and systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Master's degree

  • Experience with SQL and manipulating large datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
