Position Summary/Description:

The University of North Carolina Suicide Prevention Institute ( SPI ) together with Carolina Athletics Mental Health and Performance Psychology Program ( AMP ), and the Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders ( CEED ) is seeking a post-doctoral fellow with excellent coding skills ( SAS and R), experience in working with large datasets, experience working with elite and college athletes, and experience working in the field of eating disorders. The fellow will work closely with SPI , AMP , and CEED faculty, statisticians, and junior trainees to deliver evidence-based interventions, analyze large existing datasets to inform suicide prevention interventions, and work closely with UNC Athletics to address athlete mental health and performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical analysis and be confident working with elite and college athletes and eating disorders.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Communicate well and serve as a liaison across the three responsible centers ( SPI , AMP , and CEED ).

  • Willingness and ability to learn new, big data analytic techniques.

  • Delivery of evidence-based suicide prevention and eating disorder interventions.

  • Develop figures and reports, which provide transparency into the data quality and characteristics, and communicate workflow to team.

  • Active participation in research group meetings, teleconferences and the production of science papers for publication in high quality peer reviewed journals.

  • Supervision of junior trainees (PhD, Masters, MPH , and medical students)

The selected fellow will have rich training opportunities working with the large interdisciplinary SPI team, the nationally regarded AMP team, and the world renown UNC CEED team. The fellow will be able to avail themselves of all related training activities available in the three participating entities as well as across UNC .
