Position Overview

The Electric Vehicle Prototype Vehicle Mechanic will support a fleet of production-intent and development vehicles in a fleet-type as well as experimental manner. In this role, the candidate will be able to perform inspections, PMs, diagnosis and repair of EV powertrain systems along with traditional internal combustion (ICE) vehicles. 1st shift in New Carlisle 7am -3:30pm M-Fr and OT as needed, including weekends

The candidate needs to be able to follow instructions given to them by work orders and various engineering teams and thus be very detail oriented. They need to be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to anticipate next steps. This position requires use of many manufacturer specific software programs as well as internal service tools. The candidate should be able to adequately provide descriptions and reports of issues found in the field. Candidate should be proficient with computer usage and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Perform fleet type maintenance and repairs on class 4-8 trucks

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on EV Powertrains

• Troubleshoot faults on EV and ICE vehicles

• Work from schematics, diagrams, along with verbal and written instructions

Minimum Requirements

• Associate’s degree

• At least 3 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience

OR

• At least 5 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

• Strong knowledge of EV powertrain mechanics, diagnosis and repair

• Willingness to learn

• Proficient at advanced diagnosis of electrical issues

• Familiar with performing calibration updates with service tools like Cummins InSite, SDS, or other service tools

• Familiar with CAN based datalinks and reading communication busses

• Strong communication skills

• Experience with mig and tig welding
