Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) - Full-Time Career Opportunity

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children’s hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62-bed Hospital Program, a 16-bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30-bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach.

Our Current Shift Openings:

  • 3:00pm - 11:30pm

  • We try to accommodate shift preference; however, not all shifts are available at all times

  • Hired candidates must be able to commit to a 2-week new employee orientation, approx. 8:00am-4:30pm each day, Monday-Friday

    Qualifications

    Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team

  • Provide medical management and assessment of patients

  • Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population

  • Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through

  • Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, and that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates

  • Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN Preferred

  • Hold an active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of VA, or Compact State License

  • Prefer one year of inpatient medical surgery, rehab, or psychiatric experience

  • Must be able to sustain physical activity and be able to remain on feet throughout the scheduled shift

  • Prefer experience working with children and adolescents in healthcare setting

  • Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information

  • Must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job

  • Successfully complete and pass all components of Crisis Prevention Institute & Verbal De-escalation Crisis Intervention Training

  • Effectively perform facility approved First Aid and CPR techniques

    Pay is Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience.

    Cumberland Hospital is a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace.
