Crescent City Schools 2023-2024 School Nurse in New Orleans, Louisiana

Our School Nurses impact students’ lives by:

  • Responding with urgency to student health and hygiene needs

  • Obtaining students’ health history; providing health assessments and ongoing counseling with students, parents, school personnel, or health agencies

  • Screening and evaluating deficiencies in vision, hearing, and growth

  • Maintaining, evaluating, and interpreting health data to accommodate individual student needs

  • Developing and implementing student health plans

  • Developing systems and procedures to provide emergency nursing services for injuries and illnesses

  • Administering medication to students as needed

  • Are qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana and hold an unrestricted license

  • Are certified in CPR

  • Have an outstanding record of working in school health, community health, public health, or pediatric nursing

     

    Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

  • This is an in-person role

     

About the Position

  • Our school nurses have the same generous paid leave time as our teachers: 11-13 weeks of paid vacation and 50 hours of paid time off

  • Salaries are based on experience and range from $48,450 to $125,702 annually
