The Graduate Center, CUNY is the focal point for advanced teaching and research at The City University of New York (CUNY), the nation's largest urban public university. With over 35 doctoral and master's programs of the highest caliber, the Graduate Center fosters pioneering research and scholarship in the arts and sciences and prepares students for careers in universities and the private, nonprofit, and government sectors. The Graduate Center's commitment to research and scholarship for the public good is exemplified by its more than 30 centers, institutes, and initiatives, including its Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC), a 200,000 square-foot facility in upper Manhattan, designed to promote collaboration among scientists in five areas of global research and innovation: nanoscience, photonics, structural biology, neuroscience, and environmental sciences.

The Neuroscience Initiative of the ASRC invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Associate or Full Professor rank, with a start date of August 2025.

We seek outstanding scientists with a strong record of publications and significant research accomplishments in the fields of glial-neuronal communication, brain metabolism, chronobiology, and system neuroscience.

We encourage applications from candidates using mammalian experimental systems and with an interest in the environmental effects on brain structure and function.

This faculty position will require the incumbent to work in person.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Associate or Full Professor:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates would have a collaborative spirit, a passion for education, innovative ideas with a demonstrated use of a wide range of experimental and interdisciplinary approaches to tackle fundamental questions in neurobiology.

Faculty rank will be determined based on candidate’s overall qualifications, scholar contributions (as per publications and funding record and demonstrated commitment to conducting high-level scientific research adopting interdisciplinary approaches). Individuals considered for this position are expected to serve a major role in shaping an outstanding research mission at the ASRC while fulfilling the educational mission of the CUNY Graduate Center.

COMPENSATION

$117,805 -$177,095/year. The annual salary is based on a nine-month work year that is paid over the 12-month calendar year.
