The Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brian is seeking a talented and highly motivated scientist with strong expertise in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology for the position of an Associate Research Scientist. The position will involve participation in NIH-funded projects aimed at understanding the mechanisms of neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases. The projects employ multidisciplinary approaches in the areas of genomics, RNA/protein biochemistry and neuroscience using cellular and animal model systems.
We are primarily interested in candidates with wet-lab experience in animal models and microglia primary cultures. The core focus areas are innate immunity, tau and amyloid pathology, single- cell/single-nucleus transcriptomics, proteomics. The candidate in this position will have to utilize various in vivo and in vitro techniques to investigate the relationship between synaptic tau, proteolysis in immune cells and pathways related to memory and plasticity. The applicant will carry out experimental work on research projects established in liaison with the PI and to be performed either independently or in collaboration with postdoctoral research scientists and graduate students.
PhD or MD degree, plus 2 to 3 years of postdoctoral research experience
