Director, Digital Tax Services

Our Digital Tax Services group is a team of tax technology and software development professionals who focus on customized solutions for our clients. Our group offers specialized technology enabled services around depreciation, duty drawback, indirect tax automation, and wide variety of customized low-code (Microsoft PowerApps, etc) and pro-code automations and solutions. This hire would collaborate across the globe on technology initiatives and see to partner with our tax technical team members to build solutions our clients love and use on a day to day basis. Due to our increased growth, we're seeking a Director to join our team.

How you'll contribute

  • Plan technology and automation development to support complex consulting and compliance issues for clients, including documenting requirements, tax systems and process configuration, testing, debugging, and ongoing improvement efforts
  • Evaluate current processes for providing state and local tax compliance services, determine inefficiencies, and identify areas for automation using existing tax systems and emerging technologies
  • Research new and evolving technologies to implement into the development process
  • Lead the design, implementation, and support for tools for automating frequent and repetitive activities
  • Assess tax data to make analysis and planning more efficient
  • Develop improved reporting capabilities to enhance clients' and internal stakeholders' ability to evaluate risk and capitalize on opportunities
  • Establish and execute training processes and strategies for the new technology
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, respond to inquiries and adapt to changing project requirements
  • Lead client calls to understand critical areas of importance and apply tax technical knowledge to specific client situations
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and clearly communicate work plan, project objectives, and timelines
  • Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses
  • Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate our Associates, Senior Associates and Managers by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering our team-based atmosphere
  • Manage workload and deadlines for Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the project team
  • Demonstrate commitment and desired behaviors while working with others that have diverse experiences, skills and perspectives
  • Conduct day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work product
  • Regularly supports business development efforts. Sees opportunities for add on work, thought leadership, new client pitches, and optimizing the compliance process

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology & Accounting and/or a Master's degree in related field
  • CPA, admission to the Bar, or other appropriate certification
  • Experience taking new products and services to market
  • Experience leading technology strategies to assist tax function optimization
  • Experience developing and implementing automated tax processes and systems
  • Experience with automation platforms such as Alteryx, Knime, or coding such as Python, etc. Experience with Alteryx is preferred
  • Understanding of AI and Generative AI preferred
  • Experience implementing third-party direct or indirect tax systems (such as ONESOURCE, GoSystem, CCH Axcess, CorpTax)
  • Experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects that impact tax (e.g., ERP implementations, tax co-sourcing engagements, finance transformations)
  • Experience with state and local tax processes preferred
  • Prior proven experience leading others while managing multiple work streams
  • Demonstrated success as a trusted tax and business advisor: building relationships, identifying and addressing client needs, and delivering high quality deliverables
  • Passion for training and mentoring staff
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence clients
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel)
  • Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines
  • High motivation to learn and grow and actively identifies trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approaches
  • Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills


The salary range is $130, 000 - $175, 000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A& M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
