City of New York Industry Outreach Coordinator in New York, New York

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Course Provider Administration, and with latitude for independent decision-making, the Industry Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and dissemination of information and events related to the Course Provider Program. This external-facing program currently has 165 institutions and organizations that provide construction-related training to workers and issue Site Safety Training Cards, worker certifications and licensee Continuing Education credits. The program is expected to continue to grow and expand to include additional organizations and training institutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Effective Communication: The Outreach Coordinator will be the main point of contact for the construction industry, course providers, government agencies, accrediting bodies, and construction workers within Buildings University. The Outreach Coordinator will represent the Department of Buildings at Build Safe/Live Safe and Construction Safety Week.

  • Communication Management: Manage the unit mailbox and phone line with external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with Course Provider Program guidelines. Respond to comments, questions, correspondence, and complaints concerning construction safety trainings. Onboard new providers to the Course Provider Program.

  • Website: Ensure the Department’s website reflects current requirements needed for course providers, workers, and other stakeholders to remain in compliance. Meet with internal and external subject matter experts in relation to course criteria and requirements.

  • Legislative Updates: Draft and deliver service notices containing legislative changes.

  • Industry Sessions Coordination: Visit course providers and construction sites to promote new initiatives and ensure understanding of Program protocols. Lead informational sessions/events both virtually and in-person. Host and attend construction meetings/quarterly industry informational sessions, and visit communities to distribute information about building codes, Local Law 196 of 2017 and RCNY 105-03.

  • Policy Communication: Clearly communicate program policies and procedures to guide providers and construction workers so they can meet the requirements by accrediting bodies and other government agencies.

  • Surveys: Conduct surveys on SST Card/Worker Wallet card usage.

  • Reporting and Recommendations: Prepare appropriate reports and make recommendations on policies and procedures related to the Course Provider Program.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
