About this role

The Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of BlackRock’s index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Currently, MASS handles over $1 trillion in assets and has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, London, Asia Pacific region, and a growing team in Budapest. Within MASS, the Income team is an established business responsible for running more than $25bn in income-oriented multi-asset portfolios globally, across a range of pooled vehicles and models.

About this role:

The MASS Income team is currently seeking a client-facing Vice President to market and represent Income portfolio strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of client skills, technical expertise and strategic vision, and will be driven to deliver outstanding results. We are seeking an individual who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The candidate should have a deep understanding of markets, customer needs and the competitive landscape, and be able to convey the differentiated nature of MASS Income’s strategies.

The Product Strategist role involves supporting all aspects of client engagement, including leading client review calls/meetings, developing and updating product marketing collateral, generating markets- and portfolio-based insights content, and managing inbound requests. In addition, the individual will have a high level of interaction with partners in distribution, help drive commercial strategy and be a part of strategic projects, including new product launches. The candidate will be expected to interact with senior investors across the team and the broader firm. The ideal candidate should be a student of the markets with a strong passion for macroeconomic themes and a familiarity with fundamentals across income generating asset classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate product and market updates to external clients and internal stakeholders

  • Collaborate closely with portfolio managers, researchers and other product strategists to cultivate a deep understanding of our investment approach, portfolios and performance

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform product strategy decisions and drive the product roadmap

  • Analyze and solve complex problems related to product strategy

  • Develop and improve client presentations, commentary, marketing materials and RFPs

  • Handle in-bound, ad hoc inquiries from existing and prospective clients and channel partners related to the portfolios, markets and competitors

Key Qualifications:

  • 4-8 years of investment industry experience, progress toward CFA designation a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to synthesize and articulate complex issues and ideas

  • Extensive knowledge of markets, customer needs, and the competitive landscape

  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with senior investors, sales & distribution, marketing, legal and other internal stakeholders

  • Meticulous attention to detail, and superb organizational and time management skills

  • Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel) and experience working with technical concepts and analytical tools. Exposure to BlackRock’s Aladdin tools is a plus (Explore, ATX, PRT, others)

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $147,500 - $209,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
