The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Senior Staff Associate I in New York, New York

The Division of Molecular Therapeutics at Psychiatry is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full time Senior Staff Associate I position. The successful candidate will oversee the several research projects. The successful candidate will be proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and Adobe products.

Duties:

* Work on several projects related to the study of dopamine release. Conduct techniques including in vivo

electrophysiology on mice, cell culture, brain slices, immunocytochemistry, western blots, imaging. Conduct

multiphoton microscope imaging to study dopamine uptake and release from synapses, electrochemical methods to measure dopamine neurotransmission.

* Involved in designing and generating viral constructs that express fluorescently labeled tag proteins

* Involved in analysis of the results requiring extensive knowledge and understanding of imaging software

* Write computer code for analysis of the results, develop future directions on the project, and write detailed

protocols.

* Work independently on the experiments described above, as well as collaborate with other members of our lab.

* Present data at research meetings in the lab, as well as at conferences and publish work in scientific journals, and writing future grants.


Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in specific research field and 6 -10 years experience

* Master's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

* Ability to analyze optical and behavioral data and perform statistical analysis

Preferred qualification:

* Experience with cell cultures, electrophysiology, multiphoton microscope imaging and software.
