The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Staff Associate I in New York, New York

Position Description

The candidate will recruit participants, schedule, organize, and perform study visits, assess capacity to consent, and obtain informed consent, administer standardized questionnaires, assist with impact microindentation procedure, maintain patient registry and provide recruitment reports, ensure compliance with study protocol, maintain case report forms, perform data entry, and maintain database.assist with preparation of data for statistician. The candidate will collect and transport biological samples. Candidate will administer standardized questionnaires, assist in minor procedure, perform data entry according to human subjects research training and guidelines. Candidate will report Adverse Events and handle emergencies related to study according to guidelines. Candidate will work within guidelines to carry out duties. Candidate will be expected to carry out duties independently with oversight from Pl/research manager. Phlebotomy and handling of biological samples. Candidate will be in contact with doctors, department schedulers and participants to schedule visits and procedures. The candidate will also mail results and advise participants according to doctor's orders/directions . Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate will need to be able to work independently with little supervision. They will report their progress at weekly meetings and will report all study-relevant findings daily to immediate supervisors.

The candidate will need to use a moderate/high degree of independent judgment. They will work within the guidelines provided by program manager, senior staff associate, and principal investigator. They need to use their judgment on how to treat the older adult population, on how to handle biological specimens according to safety guidelines, and handle/report emergencies if they arise.


Bachelor's degree in specific research field and 4 years experience preferred.

Specific skills and/or knowledge required for the position.

Dexterity in drawing blood samples through venipuncture-85% success rate, expertise in preparation and handling blood samples. Excellent interpersonal skills
