Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Systems Administrator II for the Office of Information Technology (OIT) - Computing Services. This position is an integral part of our Student Systems team and offers the chance to make a significant impact within a dynamic and evolving Higher Education IT.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Manages and oversees our organization's student systems, with a focus on operating systems, application support, and device management: including configuring and troubleshooting user access, managing group policies, deploying software, and ensuring the security and compliance of devices and applications.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of related systems administration experience.
  • Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A solid technical understanding of internetworking devices and their operating systems, coupled with knowledge of systems and network-related programming concepts.
  • Must be adept at correctly identifying and diagnosing common issues with operating systems, LAN operating systems, and microcomputer applications, as well as documenting and implementing appropriate resolution techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand, and apply technical instructions and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed to effectively manage multiple, shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and functional understanding of Active Directory, networking, and enterprise management tools are vital.
  • Experience managing devices at scale in an education environment, policy enforcement and development, and additional certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Network+) are highly desirable.
