Description

Robert Half is searching for an experienced Accounting Specialist for an expanding company. In this role, you will be responsible for processing certified payroll, accounts payroll and human resources paperwork including onboarding new hires, I-9's, benefits, open enrollment and other HR paperwork related duties. The Accounting Specialist position is a permanent role in the Newport News, Virginia, area.

What you get to do every day

• Process certified payroll and certified payroll reporting

• Produce statements and reports using a variety of sources

• Accurately code documents with expenditure codes and accounting codes

• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

• Handle general accounting tasks: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects

• File vendor invoices and disbursements and match & file A/P invoices to support accounts payable

• Reconcile discrepancies, and prepare correction documents as needed, by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts

Requirements - Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment

• AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred

• Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data

• Certified Payroll experience

• Process Weekly Check experience required

• Proven knowledge of I-9 Compliance

• Open Enrollment experience

• Weekly Payroll experience

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)

• 2+ years of accounting experience required

• Prior experience in Spreadsheet and ERP system
