Note: PCAS without a driver's license may be able to walk to, or use public transportation to, inner city clients. PCAs with a driver's license will be able to reach a larger number of clients.

Personal Care Aide to provide personal care to Health Association clients at assigned location and time. Provide basic personal care services to assist with the activities of daily living, help with light housekeeping services when the client is unable to manage the home and care for him/herself. PCA will maintain a safe and habitable home environment for the client.

Responsibilities: * Provide assistance to the client by following the care plan assigned to the client. * Provide direct patient care such as assisting with bathing, eating, dressing, and walking. * Walking/transferring client. * Demonstrate safe body mechanics at all times. * Basic household functions such as preparing/serving meals, changing linens, making beds, light cleaning, assistance with bill paying, and other essential functions for the management of the client's home. * Provides services authorized by a supervisor. * Promotes maintenance of health and active daily living with clients. * Attends in-service training as required. * Maintains Daily Activity Worksheet indicating complete tasks. * Reports any incident or change sin conditions of client to the field supervisor. * Must adhere to all Agency confidentiality regulations. Characteristics: * Working knowledge of the care of the physical, emotional, and developmental characteristics of a client in a home-like setting. * Demonstrated ability to transfer client(s). * Demonstrated ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. * Ability to write legibly. * Ability to maintain positive working relationships with others. * Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Education and Experience: * A certificate from a training program in personal care aide services approved by the NYS Department of Health OR an equivalency certificate from an agency approved by the NYS Department of Health to provide such a certificate. * AND must have training and knowledge in Age specific competency from birth to death. In those instances where health related tasks are to be performed, training in such health-related tasks is required and demonstration of competency obtained prior to performing the tasks.
