We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Millwright within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Performs direct repair and preventive maintenance tasks on pumps, compressors, turbines, centrifuges, and other equipment commonly known to rotate, have bearings or have clearances.
  • Perform direct repair, preventative maintenance, and predictive maintenance tasks on pumps, compressors, turbines, centrifuges, clarifiers, fans, gearboxes, hoists, and other equipment items commonly known to rotate, have bearings or have clearances.
  • Test, study and evaluate the above equipment problems through observation of in-service equipment, disassembly of equipment and measurement of failed and new parts.
  • Rebuild equipment to specifications.
  • Determine material needs, sequence of operations and job methods including the use of computer systems for storing and using information for preventative/predictive maintenance.
  • Interpret drawings and plans, determine procedures and calculate and determine dimension, tapers and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.
  • Lubrication of equipment plant wide.
  • Perform vibration analysis, laser alignment on critical equipment and downloading of vibration data from handheld portable collectors into computers.
  • Perform a wide variety of mechanical repairs and construction to include pipefitting, rigging, welding, reinforced plastic, sheet metal systems, structural systems, carpentry, masonry work, industrial painting, insulation, machinist fitting and hydraulic repairs.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Successful completion of a Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) Millwright.
  • Completion of a related trade including Pipefitter, Welder or Machinist would be considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate basic computer software applications as well as outlook and to conduct research using the internet. Must have a strong working knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of various types of mechanical equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Predictive and Preventative maintenance practices. Diagnostic and problem solving skills related to technical issues. Must be able to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mechanical drawings and follow mechanical specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
 
Experience:
  • Successful completion for the Millwright Apprenticeship program and have acquired relevant hands on related work experience.
  • Developed interpersonal / communication and ability to work cooperatively and respectfully within a team.
  • Ability to deal with other staff / contractors with tact, diplomacy and courtesy.
  • Must have relevant plant experience and be familiar with plant operations, chemical processing equipment, procedures and related systems.
  • Ability to accurately use micrometers and machinist measuring tools.
  • Required to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending, stooping etc.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms. Must be able to work in confined spaces, work at heights and work from platforms.
