Description

The Slover is currently seeking a Creative Studio Associate. This position will assist in the daily operations of the Creative Studios, design, maker, production, and sound studios. Acts as an assistant to the supervisor. Assists clients, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations through individual consults and group workshops. Provides customer service to clients by providing information, promoting general usage of facilities, and operating all creative studios equipment.

The Creative Studios comprises design, maker, production, and sound studios for The Slover.

Department Hiring Salary: $ 41,503

Essential Functions

  • Provides customer service by assisting clients with Creative Studios related questions, aiding with Creative Studios equipment, and recommending resources.

  • Facilitates intake process and oversees scheduling reservations for studio facilities and resources.

  • Assists and instructs clients in learning and using Creative Studios software and technology applications.

  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates workshops by selecting and organizing materials, scheduling, distributing promotional materials, and setting up and breaking down displays. Orders, maintains and track supplies.

  • Performs various administrative duties to support Creative Studios operations as assigned.

  • Helps clients, executes workshops, and maintains and tracks supplies.

Education/Experience

  • Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • One year of experience in creative field or related customer service work.

  • Sound production or recording experience required.

  • One year of sound studio or sound production experience

  • Work requires the ability to read reports, applications, policies, and general correspondence.

  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and handle multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in Garage Band, Avid, and Logic

  • Experience with Apple MacOS computer hardware and related equipment.

Additional Information & Requirements

Working Hours: This position is 40 hours per week. Workdays and hours will vary depending on organizational needs. The facility will be open Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and 12-4 p.m. on Sunday. This position will require flexibility to work weekend and evening schedules

Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus for new hires.

  • Regular full-time and permanent part-time employees may receive paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, employer paid pension plan, basic life insurance, voluntary participation in medical and dental, Section 457 deferred compensation, long-term disability, optional life insurance for self, spouse and children, medical and dependent care reimbursement plans, access to membership in credit union and employer provided parking.

  • Temporary/seasonal and part-time employees are generally only eligible for employer provided parking and access to membership in credit union.

  • Retirement

    If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

    If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

  • The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply. The applicant’s school of enrollment must be an accredited institution.
