  • A vacancy exists for a Transportation Coordinator *to work at the *Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in the Office of Business Services.  The Transportation Coordinator provides support for student transportation services.

    Qualifications:

    1. Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field (Bachelor's degree requirement may be waived with significant experience in specialized area of position)
    2. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in appropriate field
    3. Experience in school and/or non-profit environment preferred.
    4. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    5. Ability to problem-solve, take initiative with school district clients and internal operations, and use technology to gain information and communicate with others.
    6. Ability to complete tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
    7. Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI

        Duties & Responsibilities: Transportation Support

    8. Coordinate regular, ongoing communication with transportation carriers to ensure the safe transportation of pupils.

    9. Manage database with student, school district and contractor 's information.
    10. Responsible for communicating with contractors, Program Administrators, School Districts and Parents in solving transportation issues.
    11. Serve as a first line representative in responding to fee-based transportation requests.
    12. Enter vehicle, student, and mileage information to calculate maximum state reimbursement formulas for each contracted vehicle.
    13. Calculate individual school district transportation costs and submit the year-end transportation reports to PDE, in consultation with the Supervisor of Transportation. Attend meetings related to this process.
    14. Maintain a file of each active driver, monitor, assistant, etc. with all state mandated clearances and current driver's license information.
    15. Process monthly Pupil Transportation contractor transportation payment forms and monitor contract commitments. 
    16. Create requisitions/purchase orders for transportation vendors/suppliers and monitor balances of any blanket orders.
    17. Maintain a thorough knowledge of Pupil Transportation administrative accident guidelines and procedures in the event of an emergency to provide assistance, as needed.
    18. Prepare materials and mailings to Pupil Transportation bus drivers/aides, contractors, PDE, and MCIU staff.
    19. Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences in connection with Pupil Transportation to keep informed of new developments in the field.  Disseminate relative information to appropriate MCIU Staff.
    20. Provide general administrative support to the Program Administrator/Support Services (i.e. order materials such as car seats, vest, book meeting rooms, etc.).

    21. Make recommendations and provide information/data to supervisor and other administrators for necessary changes within area of responsibility.

    22. Actively model the mission, values, and operating principles of the MCIU.
    23. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administrative team.

    Location: The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located at 2 W.
