Job Description

The Coordinator, Government Affairs will be responsible for the following tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Communications

  • Develop streamlined communication processes to ensure AbbVie’s enterprise Government Affairs organization shares information and meets appropriate deadlines.

  • Responsible for the development of functional communications resources.

  • Responsible for the planning and execution of the Government Affairs global webcasts that connect AbbVie’s global government affairs community.

  • Responsible for the planning and execution of the AbbVie Government Affairs in-person global meeting. Creates and finalizes meeting agendas and content and professionally manages internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, guest speakers, executive assistants, executive leadership members, and GA colleagues.

  • Responsible for preparing presentation material for the Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, and direct reports for internal and external presentations and engagements.

  • Responsible for developing materials and agendas for the Government Affairs Leadership Team meetings.

  • Alignment

  • Coordinate the briefing process for Government Affairs, including engaging internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), consolidating background material from SME’s, assisting with final material, directly engaging with third parties, aligning on upcoming events, and ensuring alignment with AbbVie’s senior leadership.

  • Provides support for establishing comprehensive short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, operating procedures, and defined outcomes.

  • Identifies and coordinates training needs for initiatives, policies, and procedures across Government Affairs.

  • Supports coordination within GA to perpetuate the timely flow of information to ensure the broader team is well-informed and applies insights/intel to enhance goals/objectives/strategies/tactics.

  • Supports the coordination with AbbVie teams outside of GA (e.g., Public Affairs, Legal, Investor Relations, Regulatory, Commercial, etc.) to perpetuate the timely flow of information to ensure these teams and GA are well-connected and apply insights/intel to enhance goals/objectives/strategies/tactics.

  • Enhance GA’s culture, including organizing team events for GA and collaborating with AbbVie colleagues outside of GA to provide opportunities for joint team events and activities.

  • Administrative

  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and direct reports, including answering phones, calendar management, scheduling virtual/onsite meetings, coordinating catering, scheduling travel for both domestic and international travel, managing correspondence, and expense reports.

  • Provides support for the management and coordination of external vendors.

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new AbbVie Government Affairs employees.

  • Provide support for AbbVie Political Action Committee.

  • Consolidates and completes weekly quicktakes and quarterly reports for the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and the AbbVie Executive Leadership Team.

  • Significant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, political science, communications or equivalent preferred.

  • Understanding of the current political environment and systems and an appreciation for the role of governments, patients, and biopharmaceutical companies have in developing new therapies.

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of project management, government affairs, or public affairs experience required.

  • Effective communication planning, execution, and process management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and strategic, analytical, and leadership capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to quickly build rapport and credibility with HQ, field, DC, and our global AbbVie colleagues.

  • Budget management experience.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
