Need 5 full time, temporary, seasonal Farmworkers / Laborers to work in Northfield, MN. From: 04/24/2024 to 11/22/2024 Work: 44 hrs./week, Mon. - Fri. 8 hrs./day, Sat. 4 hrs./day, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start/end times. Employer may request, but not require that workers work more than the stated daily hours, on the worker s Sabbath, or on federal holidays. All hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week must be paid at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay. Must Apply By: 08/09/2024 JOB DESCRIPTION: Operate farm equipment, small engine lawn tractors/mowers, tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery like tillers and pallet jacks. Workers with valid Driver's License may be asked to operate company vehicles. Maintaining a clean work environment on the farm and at the farmhouse. Regular cleaning of delivery and harvest materials and operation of the washing machine. Responsible for documenting and following all safety procedures. Safely and efficiently follow procedures to wash and pack produce properly. Responsible for labeling, stacking delivery pallets, and loading them onto a delivery truck. Safely and efficiently follow procedures to harvest produce properly including bunching, grading, sorting, and storage by hand. Responsible for documenting harvest and labeling. Bulk harvest of some seasonal produce. Cleaning, weeding, maintaining grounds and landscaping, organizing, and minor repair and maintenance of tunnels, farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Weeding, trellising, lowering and leaning, and pruning greenhouse plants. Assist in preparing tunnels for planting including laying irrigation and fabric. Haul and spread topsoil, compost, and fertilizer to the soil. Responsible for weeding and plant maintenance throughout the season in addition to regulating greenhouse conditions and repair and maintain irrigation and climate control systems. Responsible for assisting in tunnel clean-up including removing plant and waste material. Assist in preparing fields for planting including laying irrigation, shaping beds, and laying plastic. Responsible for weeding and plant maintenance throughout the season, and for assisting in field clean-up at the end of the year including removing plant and waste material. In the Field: organizing trays, documenting planting, hand transplanting into beds (with or without tractor). In the Tunnel: organizing trays, documenting planting, hand transplanting plants into beds or pots. Shoveling dirt, moving dirt, filling flats, operating flat filler, seeding, operating the seeding machine, and labeling. Also, responsible for moving flats in the greenhouse and loading carts for delivery or transplanting. Work is to be done for long periods of time in the field, when plants may be wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, related chemicals, etc. may affect workers ability to perform the job. Workers must be able to perform the required work with or without reasonable accommodations. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker employed under this job order, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to work performance, skill, and tenure. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Three (3) months experience. Able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Able to perform work while exposed to extreme temperatures, with extensive pushing, pulling, walking, frequent stooping or bending over, and repetitive movements. No high school diploma or GED is required. Must have understanding of basic English and/or Spanish. EMPLOYER ASSURANCES: Work guaranteed for 3/4 of contract period, starting with date of arrival at work site. Employer provides free housing for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Employer pays inbound transportation and subsistence to work site upon 50% completion of work contract for workers whose residence is beyond normal commuting distance. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts. Required work-related tools and supplies provided free of charge by employer.
