What’s the role?

This a key leadership role within the digitally focused Newswire team. This role works in conjunction with the Editor to ensure that we have the right people in the right place to cover the news of the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with teams you will help drive the news agenda for the day

• Adhere to our policy of fairness, balance and accuracy

• Ensure no key stories are missed and judgement calls are constantly made on the relevance of stories

• Responsibility for meeting deadlines and liaising with internal and external stakeholders throughout

• Work closely with a dynamic team who are dedicated to quality journalism

• Working on the early morning breaking news, your shifts will start from 6am, 5 days a week and will include some weekends

Who are you?

• You will be an experienced journalist and have an excellent news sense

• You have a history of successfully leading and motivating a team

• With strong writing/copy editing ability, you’ll be detail-oriented, keep calm under pressure and have a process driven personality

• As we’re a digital only masthead you will understand the importance of a digital news cycle and have the ability to help drive breaking news content

• You will be exceptionally well-organised and enjoy helping reporting talent to grow whilst being a team player
