Canadian Tire Vendor Operations Analyst in Oakville, Ontario

What you’ll do

The Vendor Operations Analyst reports to the Team Lead, Vendor Rebates & Recoveries that is part of Finance Shared Services. This role is responsible for billing on average $60M annually for CTR Store and Warehouse returns in addition to the active resolution of vendor accounts and collection of outstanding vendor debts enterprise wide. Due to the volume, high dollar and manual processes, this role is critical to maintain and maximize the cash flow from the billing and collection tasks. You will connect with various internal and external stakeholders to resolve any issues, influence positive outcomes and serve as a subject matter of expert for all things related to vendor accounts.

  • On a weekly basis, analyze, prepare and issue store and warehouse return billings based on extracted data and reports.

  • Complete reconciliations and required controls to ensure all billings are completed accurately and on time.

  • Proactively work with vendors to secure payment on outstanding balances which will include phone calls, emails and formal correspondence to various levels within a vendor organization

  • Utilize knowledge of the vendor contract to influence the vendor of the validity of the claim (i.e. debit note) and negotiate a repayment, repayment plan or proposed settlement

  • Liaise with Merchandising, Accounts Payable, Legal, and other departments to address vendor issues preventing them from making a repayment and unresolved disputes

  • Analyze vendor recovery data, work with Merchandising teams to assess risk levels of all balances owing on a monthly basis, and develop an action plan for each debit balance vendor

  • Ad-hoc projects as required

What you bring

  • University degree or College diploma in a Business/Finance related discipline

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years related senior level experience in B2B collections and associated negotiations experience

  • Demonstrated senior level collections and negotiation skills

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships within various roles across the organization and external vendors

  • Intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access

  • Solid business acumen with retail experience

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to effectively prioritize activities and perform duties with minimal supervision
