Applies practical knowledge to support and manage health and safety projects, initiatives and operational improvements working collaboratively with team to help drive compliance. Under limited supervision for routine situations. Problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand. Your day to day: * Exercises considerable judgment and initiative in identifying and correcting potential health and safety related compliance issues * Performs routine inspections of safety and health and conducts follow up action on items found. Assists with execution of corrective measures for continuous improvement. * Supports site activities to facilitate compliance with company and regulatory standards including investigations of accidents and environmental incidents, developing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace. * Maintains data entry and trending analysis into Westinghouse EHS programs * Completes basic sampling and monitoring including sound level monitoring and air sampling, under direct supervision. Maintains industrial hygiene sampling equipment at appropriate standards. * Drivessafety first culture. Practices and promotes safe work habits and adheres to safety procedures and guidelines * Provides advice and training on safety protocols and supports audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to environmental and employee health and safety. * Actively engages with department leadership in all plant safety programs, including fire protection, ergonomics, safe design, job safety analysis, incident investigation, incident statistics, and safety training * Supports and helps drive the implementation of company health and safety initiatives and practices active communication and service to plant personnel in maintaining appropriate safety policies. What you need to be successful in this role: * HS diploma or GED equivalency. Associates preferred in focus area of environmental health and safety * 1-2 years' experience preferred related to Occupational Safety and Health * ASP, CHST, CSSO, or other related preferred. * Exercises considerable judgment and initiative in identifying and correcting potential health and safety related compliance issues. * Able to process data and operate instrumentation using basic computer programs. * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Must be able to work in a team environment and with other members of the production, maintenance, and support groups to identify andreport/correct abnormal conditions that could result in elevated personnel exposure to unsafe working hazards.
