Advanced Scientist – Specialty Elastomers Technology

Proactively develop new products for silicone elastomer materials in Ohta Technology Center, one of the major R&D bases of global company with an 80-year history and pioneer in silicon materials. Provide sustainable and innovative material solutions to the potential needs of silicone elastomer customers and markets in Japan and around the world.

プロジェクト・コミュニケーション

• 多世代製品計画に沿ったシリコーンエラストマー材料の新製品開発プロジェクトを、地域や部門を横断するチームワークで推進し、持続可能でかつ他社と差別化された新製品を開発します。

• 新製品設計において、お客様から得た情報を分析してお客様の潜在的なニーズを特定します。そのニーズに対して新製品を設計するにあたって、適切な測定系を選択し、それらで特性目標を設定します。

• 新製品の設計において、特性目標および収益目標の両方を同時に達成するために、技術的アイデアと設計コンセプトを多数生み出します。

• 生み出した技術的アイデアや設計コンセプトのスクリーニングおよび最適化をするのに、実験を計画して実行します。実験で得たデータに基づき、新製品の設計を最適化します。実験で必要な設備投資を適切なタイミングで提案します。

• 実験室で最適化した設計で試作品サンプルを作成し、それに対するお客様の評価を得ます。そのプロトタイピングを繰り返し行い、最終的にお客様が満足する設計を明確にします。

• 技術・設計検討を通じて発明し知的財産を生み出し、それを特許で保護します。知的財産権や法規制を遵守します。

• 新製品の最適な量産製造プロセスを、工程能力を指標にし、エンジニアと協力して特定します。

• 新製品開発を通じて得た知見を、プロジェクトレビューや技術報告により組織内で共有します。

• Secures safety in laboratory and office.

Customers & Markets

• Understand potential market trends for silicone elastomers in Japan and around the world.

• Collaborate with marketing teams to help develop and update multi-generational product plans.

Projects & Communications

• Drives new product development projects in silicone elastomer material with sustainability and differentiation from competitors’ one in line with multi-generational product plans, by cross-reginal and cross-functional teamwork.

• In the design of new products, analyze the information obtained from the customers to identify their potential needs. In order to design a new product meeting these needs, select the appropriate measurement systems and set characteristic targets with them.

• Generate a large number of technical ideas and design concepts in order to achieve both characteristic and revenue targets at the same time, in the design of new products.

• Design and execute experiments in screening and optimizing the technical ideas and design concepts generated. Optimize the design of new products based on experimental data. Propose the capital investment required for the experiment at the right time.

• Create prototype samples with optimized designs in the laboratory and get customer feedback on them. Iterate on the prototyping process and finally identify the design with customer satisfaction.

• Create inventions and intellectual property through technology and design studies, and protect them with patents. Comply with intellectual property rights and laws and regulations.

• Identify mass production manufacturing processes for new product with process capability by collaboration with engineers.

• Share knowledge and insights gained through new product development within the organization through project reviews and technical reports.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

必須要件

• 博士課程、修士課程または学部を卒業後に化学産業で実務経験

• 取得学位：化学、物質科学、化学工学のいずれか関連する科学領域の博士または修士の学位を取得していること、あるいは、学士の学位と上述に相当する専門技術を有すること

• 複数のお客様と直接接触して行った製品開発で、硬化性組成物の製品開発経験を1年以上あること

• 太田技術研究所に出勤し実験ができること

• 語学の習熟度

• 日本語：流暢

• 英語：仕事で経験する身近な話題について、標準的な話し方であれば要点を理解できるレベル。筋の通った簡単な文章を作ることができること。CEFRでB1に相当するレベル。

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience of R&D working in a chemical industry environment after PhD graduation, MS graduation, or BS graduation.

• Academic Degree: Masters or Ph.D. degrees in chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, or related scientific fields. B.S. degree with good track-record of technical expertise may be considered to equivalent to afore mentioned academic degree levels.

• At least one year of experience in product development of curable compositions in direct contact with multiple customers.

• Working at Ohta technology Center and conduct experiment

• Language Proficiency:

• Japanese - Fluent

• English - Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work. Can produce simple connected text on the topics. Equivalent performance to CEFR B1 level.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) やそれに相当する新製品開発の方法論の知識や経験

• グラフ分析や統計分析、実験計画法の知識や経験

• 危険物取扱者甲種

• ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO13485, IATF16949に関する知識や経験

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in product development of thermal curable elastomeric material or Silicone elastomer.

• Knowledge and experience in elastomeric material formulations and applications, and their evaluation methods.

• Knowledge and experience in project management and stage gate method in new product development.

• Knowledge and experience in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) or its equivalent methodology for new product design.

• Knowledge and experience in graphical and statistical analysis, and design of experiment methodology.

• Certified Hazardous Material Handling Supervisor – Class Kou

• Knowledge and experience in global standard such as ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO13485 or IATF16949.
