Summary:   The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the pharmacy. This role involves overseeing and participating in pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing staff, and optimizing pharmaceutical care and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

+ + Provide strategic direction and leadership to the pharmacy department.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective pharmacy operations.

• Manage and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support personnel.

• Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development.

  Pharmacy Operations:

• • Oversee the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications.

• Ensure accurate and safe medication use, including proper storage and handling.

• Implement and maintain inventory control systems to manage pharmaceutical supplies.

• Coordinate with medical professionals to optimize patient care and medication therapy.

  Regulatory Compliance:

• • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to pharmacy practice.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in pharmacy laws and regulations.

• Oversee the development and implementation of quality assurance and improvement programs.

  Financial Management:

• • Develop and manage the pharmacy department budget.

• Monitor financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource utilization.

• Negotiate contracts with pharmaceutical suppliers and vendors.

  Education and Training:

• • Develop and deliver educational programs for pharmacy staff, providers, and patients.

• Promote ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities for pharmacy staff.

  Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.

• Current and active pharmacist license in the state of Nebraska.

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a pharmacy leadership role, preferably in a hospital or healthcare system.

• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in pharmacy management software and technology.
