Charles Schwab Specialist, Accounts Payable in Omaha, Nebraska

The Corporate Controllers department is responsible for handling financial close and reporting activities for the Company. The department is focused on maintaining internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. This control environment provides employees opportunities to grow in their responsibilities as the department identifies areas that need attention. The department looks to hire employees with strong accounting knowledge and experience to maintain a highly skilled group of professionals.

  • Process invoices through paper and electronic channels

  • Perform daily and weekly disbursements processes

  • Monitor invoice feeds to ensure the sub systems are reconciled to the GL

  • Review daily SOX controls, communicate with leadership on results and identify and resolve identified issues

  • Research and resolve positive pay issues

  • Perform account reconciliation with suppliers and load manual uploads to ERP

  • Assess non-payment issues and work with business partners at all levels of the organization to direct them to resolution

  • Maintain, update and document SOP’s associated with job duties

  • Remain within SLA in managed mailboxes and communication with leadership when outside of SLA

  • Train business partners and suppliers in invoicing processes per the system requirements

  • Participate in system testing where applicable to job duties

  • Execute internal controls to ensure adherence to the Corporate Expense Policy and maintain the SOX compliant control environment

  • Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations on changes

  • Assist with internal and external audits

What you have

  • 1 to 5 years of Accounts Payable experience

  • Ability to work independently and professionally in a high volume environment

  • Ability to maintain employee relationships through timely responses and excellent service

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to interact with vendors and internal business partners

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and solve technical or process issues

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including advanced level in Excel

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting is a plus

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Ariba or large P2P ERP

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements is a plus
