VCA Animal Hospitals Veterinary Technician: Internal Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska

VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center is looking to expand its Internal Medicine service and is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join its team!

Being an Internal Medicine Technician:

Internal Medicine specialists are often considered the puzzle solvers of Veterinary Medicine. VCA Midwest's Internal Medicine service is equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient bringsā€”no matter how common or rare, or how simple or complex. Our Internal Medicine service diagnoses and treats the many serious diseases that can affect our patients' internal body systems.

Our IM Technicians better understand body systems and the disease process, learn advanced diagnostic testing, provide excellent patient care, and treat patients with cutting-edge techniques. The responsibilities of the Technicians and Veterinary Assistants are to provide support to the Internists and to be part of a collaborative environment to provide thorough patient care. Our Technicians are a vital reason we can help patients feel better and why pet parents feel a little more at ease because their family members are being cared for with great medicine and warm hearts.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Provide anesthesia and nursing care for the Internal Medicine patients

  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging

  • Assist with all aspects of patient care from admission through discharge, including departmental rounds

  • Communicate with clients and help manage long term patient care

  • Physical examinations and patient assessments

  • Venipuncture/IVC placement

  • Collaborating with veterinarians and other team members to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety

Qualifications:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician or sitting for the VTNE

  • Strong skill in phlebotomy, catheter placement, anesthesia protocols and monitoring and recovery

  • Must be able to work successfully as part of a team

  • Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 40 pounds

  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and staff members

Schedule : Full-Time, four 10-hour weekdays.

Compensation:

Starting range is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field/specialty. Financial growth opportunities available.
