Team & Job Overview

The Partnership team is accountable for enterprise level relationship management driving results through a win-win-win approach with domestic & foreign banks, credit unions, private-equity firms, alternative lenders and other Private, Crown and Association organizations. The team develops and executes enterprise-level strategies, and channel tactics to maximize the business potential in support to Canadian Exporters. This is achieved by developing trusted partnerships and established network with key internal and external stakeholders optimizing partner priorities and potential with the goal to diversify EDC’s solution suite within the market.

Discipline Summary

  • Creates business development opportunities in Canada with partners for small, mid-market and large enterprise business segments across a spectrum of industry sectors

  • Gathers and shares market intelligence across various sectors through external interactions with Partners and sector associations in support to the Partnership Strategy

  • Supports with the implementation of strategic initiatives and influences the development of new opportunities and new services/products customized to clients’ needs

  • Leverages existing network, builds and maintains effective long-term relationships with portfolio of partners (i.e. Financial Institutions, Crown corporations, Pension Funds, Private & associations)

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for orchestrating virtual account teams for each partner composed of product, service and knowledge specialists who have shared responsibility for the implementation of BD and program level strategies.

  • Responsible to develop and expand EDC’s partnership portfolio within financial and non-financial ecosystem, including understanding of market needs and identification of new business opportunities.

  • Develop, implement and effectively communicate partners strategy aligned with EDC’s corporate Strategy.

  • Accountable for overall business performance for the assigned partner.

  • Lead relationship management and coordinates business engagements at the enterprise level.

  • Develops account plans for prioritized partners including engagement with product teams.

  • Execute initiatives utilizing project management mindset and by collaborating with EDC stakeholders to expand partnership new business opportunities.

  • Monitors progress vs. objectives for prioritized partners

  • Continuous improvement of partnership portfolio management processes

  • Works with EDC product leads/COE’s on product development opportunities and act as a subject matter expert on partner ecosystem

Screening Criteria

  • Strong understanding of EDC’s solutions (e.g. Insurance, bonding, financing, and partnerships)

  • Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration or Finance or in a related field

  • Minimum 5 years of business development experience in international business and/or financial services, or related experience

  • Strong sense of information synthetization, communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills

  • Project management experience and collaboration experience with internal/external stakeholders

Assets

  • Experience in the Canadian commercial banking sector and/or investment sector

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)

  • Knowledge of the ecosystem of federal government partners

  • Demonstration of strong strategic mindset, influencing skills and relationship management

  • Experience in leading program level initiatives in a matrixed environment

Salary Range

  • Business Development 18: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,355 - $123,140 plus a performance-based incentive

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Montreal or Toronto.
